  • Notes: Entering service in mid-1917, the S.E.5 proved to be a highly effective fighter. As fast as the SPAD S.XIII, the S.E.5 proved easier to fly than the more maneuverable Sopwith Camel. Together with the Camel and SPAD S.XIII, the S.E.5 aided the Allies in retaking control of the skies in 1917 and 1918.
