Mexican Revolution: Pancho Villa Killed!

July 23, 1923 - While driving through Parral, Chihuahua, Mexican revolutionary leader Francisco "Pancho" Villa is killed by assassins. Beginning his career as a colorful bandit, Villa became one of the most influential military commanders of the Mexican Revolution and at one point controlled most of northern Mexico. Known for their hard-hitting cavalry charges, Villa's forces dominated battlefields throughout much of the conflict. This article provides an in-depth look at this flamboyant military leader.
