July 20 ,1864 - On the anniversary of Confederate General John Bell Hood's (right) debut as commander of the Army of Tennessee at the Battle of Peachtree Creek, we take a look at the men who led the South's armies during the Civil War. While Confederate leadership in the East, led by Robert E. Lee, tended to top class, their commanders in the West, such as Braxton Bragg, often left much to be desired. This gallery provides an overview of the men who guided Confederate troops through four years of bitter fighting.
