Photo Gallery: Union Generals of the Civil War
In this photo gallery we take a look at the generals who guided Union armies during in the Civil War. Unlike the Confederacy, the Union had a series of ineffective commanders, such as George B. McClellan and Ambrose Burnside, before identifying the aggressive, capable leaders, such as Ulysses S. Grant (right) and William T. Sherman, that would ultimately lead the nation to victory. Check out this gallery to see the best (and worst) of the Union leadership.
